Vans has donated thousands of pairs of shoes and items of clothing to the victims of Camp Fire in Northern California. According to local newspaper Chico Enterprise-Record, the skate company showed up at the Chico High School gym with approximately 4,000 to 5,000 pairs of sneakers, socks, and shirts, as well as around 1,000 hats.

“It’s just heart-wrenching,” Vans VP Steve Van Doren said. “We’re just trying to help them out.” Van Doren added that the team came to the school to “put a smile on their faces — they’ve had some real hard weeks the last couple weeks.”

This isn't the first time Vans has donated items after a natural disaster. In August, it gave away sneakers to victims of the Carr Fire and also donated after Hurricanes Harvey and Katrina. Prior to Vans' most recent donation, adidas, Kim Kardashian, and Kanye West had jointly donated $500,000 to California wildfire relief.
